About the Role
Directly supervise focus-factory/process production employees to maximize safety, quality, variable cost, productivity, and technical skill development. Ensure on-time shipments and customer satisfaction. This position reports to the Director of Operations and serves as their backup.
Responsibilities
- Work with support departments to ensure production methods align with internal quality standards, customer requirements, and the AS9100 program.
- Assist Planners/Schedulers in properly scheduling manufacturing operations within the focus-factory/process.
- Analyze, establish, and communicate performance standards for the focus-factory/process.
- Control product, materials, and labor flow to maximize productivity and minimize cost while meeting safety, quality, inventory, and throughput targets.
- Review and plan daily, weekly, and quarterly labor, equipment, tooling, and supply requirements to achieve manufacturing throughput and exceed productivity targets.
- Lead daily employee team meetings to align department goals, solicit feedback, and remove performance obstacles.
- Develop and implement systems to improve internal and external quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
- Document all department functions and maintain the daily Time and Attendance recordkeeping system.
- Ensure proper control and disposal of scrap in the focus-factory/process.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality to meet scrap, cost, and safety requirements while managing process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a positive and productive work environment with customers, clients, and coworkers.
- Analyze variable labor costs daily and determine staffing levels; reallocate support labor as needed.
- Carry out supervisory duties: interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, rewarding/disciplining employees, and resolving complaints.
- Coordinate the My Idea program for the assigned focus-factory/process.
- Plan and support cross-training to eliminate skill gaps and maintain an employee skill matrix, including competency forms and certifications.
- Administer company policies and procedures.
- Promote a zero-injury culture by complying with environmental safety practices and regulations, including SDS, chemical labeling, and storage requirements.
- Conduct EH&S self-inspections and safety huddles in areas of responsibility.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Engineering degree highly preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum Experience: 5+ years.
