About the role
A Day In The Life Of An Operations Specialist At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. In the role of Operations Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
- Monitor and coordinate ongoing disaster relief operations across geographically dispersed locations and all phases of response, supporting alignment across the organization.
- Gather, compile, and deliver timely situation updates and operational reports to support informed decision-making by department leadership.
- Maintain continuous awareness of organizational deployments, operational status, and readiness.
- Monitor weather forecasts, ongoing events, and emerging needs across the United States to support proactive and anticipatory planning.
- Support both crisis action planning for short-notice or no-notice events and deliberate planning for preplanned activities.
- Participate in after-action reviews to identify lessons learned from disaster relief activities.
- Maintain and improve operations center tools, systems, and reporting processes to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university in emergency management or related field, and two (2) years of operational experience in emergency management, disaster relief, or similar role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Highly detail oriented and organized with the ability to multitask.
- Proven ability to be a self-starter and willing to adapt to changing demands.
- Computer fluency, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and make valid recommendations.
- Able to work creatively and independently.
- Understanding of data collection, analysis, reporting, and visualization.
- Flexibility, adaptability, readiness, and ability to work with a diverse team.
- Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies preferred, not required.
