About the Role
An Operations Research Systems Analyst (ORSA) supports complex wargaming events to assess future force capabilities and inform Marine Corps doctrine.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute wargames and tabletop exercises aligned with strategic objectives.
- Apply operations research, statistical analysis, and mathematical modeling to evaluate outcomes and operational concepts.
- Collaborate with military planners and subject matter experts to define scenarios, objectives, and metrics.
- Analyze data from wargaming events to identify trends and capability gaps.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations to communicate findings to leadership.
- Support integration of modeling and simulation tools for enhanced realism and analytical rigor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Operations Research, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Data Science, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; 10 years without degree.
- Proficiency in statistical software and data visualization tools (e.g., Python, R, Tableau, Excel).
- Strong understanding of Marine Corps structure, doctrine, and future force concepts.
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and communicate effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Operations Research or related field.
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks and data collection plans for exercises or wargames.
- Knowledge of combat modeling and simulation applications within DoD.
- Prior military service, especially within the Marine Corps, with operational planning experience.
Security & Physical Requirements
- Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
- Ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 50 pounds, and remain stationary for periods.
