About the role

You will be based in the Midwest and work at various grain elevators, flour mills, and soybean processing plants located throughout the Midwest and in North Carolina. This position requires travel to all locations.

Equipment used includes various grain handling equipment, mainly conveyors and legs. Software used includes Microsoft Office products and the SIMON Maintenance system.

Responsibilities

  • Commitment to worker safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Effectively supervise and manage business objectives and operations team
  • Communicate tasks, directives, and policies with both senior management and supervised workers
  • Oversee daily operations of the facilities
  • Provide leadership, support, and accountability to implement all required safety, regulatory, and company programs and protocols
  • Motivate the team to perform at their best and take pride in their daily tasks
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, in addition to company policy
  • Coordinate maintenance and large repairs with the operations team and senior management
  • Perform safety inspections, monitor facility safety and quality controls
  • Oversee and monitor preventative maintenance, quality, and operational programs and results
  • Assist with managing the business according to pre-set objectives
  • Knowledgeable of all operations, systems, policies, and procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Weighing or measuring materials and products using scales or other measuring instruments to verify specified tonnages
    • Manipulating controls, levers, and valves to start pumps, auxiliary equipment, or conveyors, and to adjust equipment positions, speeds, timing, and material flows
    • Recording and tracking data such as weights, types, quantities, and storage locations of materials, as well as equipment performance problems and downtime
    • Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining equipment, machinery, and work stations using hand tools, shovels, brooms, chemicals, hoses, and lubricants
    • Observing conveyor operations and monitoring lights, dials, and gauges to maintain specified operating levels and detect equipment malfunctions

Requirements

  • Background/experience with the SIMON Maintenance system is preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in agricultural-related studies or Business with relevant work experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to read and comprehend written and oral operational and safety instructions, related rules, policies, and memos, and to communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisors
  • For safety reasons, must be able to read, write, understand, and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English

  • Exposure to various site hazards, including but not limited to loud noises, flashing lights, dust and fumes, hazardous materials, heavy equipment, and machinery

Schedule

Typically Monday–Friday, with most weekends off. Occasional weekend work may be required, though rare.
