About the Role

Mission Technologies is seeking an Event Lead / Operations Planner to support the Maritime Operations Center – Training and Exercise Team (MOC-TET) at the Navy Warfare Development Center (NWDC) on Norfolk Naval Station. This role is responsible for delivering Navy Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training across designated Areas of Responsibility (AORs). The Event Lead assists with planning, designing, and executing Operational-level Fleet Synthetic Training (FST-O) events for Fleet and task force staffs, including reserve personnel. The position requires interaction with military, government, and contractor leadership and may involve non-standard hours, including occasional workweeks exceeding 40 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with MOC Training and Exercise Team (MOC TET) on-site government and contractor staff to provide tasks, briefs, planning products, and point papers enabling MOC training objectives.
  • Prepare required reports, staff actions, point-papers, talking points, and other staff products in support of:
    • Event planning with Navy and Joint planners, including Joint EXCON coordination cells, Combatant Commands, and Joint Staff J7.
    • Assisting Navy Exercise planners and Exercise Control with Maritime issues.
  • Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of joint capabilities.
  • Act as Navy Chief Controller, Modeling and Simulation Operations lead, or forward MOC EST LNO during event operational testing and execution.
  • Provide recommendations for and development of synthetic augmentation (entities, scenario elements, simulator operators, etc.) to live training exercises.
  • Develop exercise documents, including manning documents, messages, orders, exercise directives, and exercise game books.
  • Execute synthetic war-gaming for OLW synthetic events/exercises as required.
  • Provide MOC TET government leadership with lessons-learned from synthetic training exercises and ensure relevant changes are incorporated in future exercises.
  • Provide expertise and support on applicable strategic- and operational-level joint, coalition, and service doctrine.
  • Maintain awareness of current U.S. and foreign military capabilities, trends, tactics, and U.S. Navy doctrine.
  • Use Confluence and JIRA tools on the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) network to share event schedules and documents, track issues, and keep stakeholders informed.

Requirements

  • 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master’s in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience. A PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field requires 0 years of experience.
  • Experience with naval operations.
  • Modeling and Simulation experience with Optimized Littoral Warfare exercises/Fleet Synthetic Training or equivalent M&S experience, including Master Scenario Event List scripting.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with operational-level Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) supported FST events.
  • Experience in Navy Fleet Synthetic Training programs, experimentation, and war-game operation and management.
  • Experience with the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) process, timeline, and products.
  • Experience with Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF) simulation and/or other High-Level Architecture / Distributed Interactive Simulation (HLA/DIS) modeling tools.

Physical Requirements

  • May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment.
  • Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.

Pay

Anticipated salary range: $71,962.00 - $93,017.60.
