Operations Manager - Snow Removal/Landscaping
About the Role
The Operations Manager (OPM) acts as a central coordinator overseeing all operations, middle managers, personnel, and equipment. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role ensures smooth service delivery, fleet management, and scheduling while fostering communication between the operations and sales teams. The focus is on exterior services such as landscape management and facility repair and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Operations
- Maintains and updates master scheduling tools (e.g., Default Schedules, Calendars, SPS).
- Updates Omnia’s fleet and local item library with current data.
- Manages Omnia’s fulfillment systems and production calendars.
- Coordinates master schedules and provides operational schedules to Account Executives and Production Managers.
- Ensures fleet needs align with production requirements and communicates needs to the Director of Operations.
- Manages designated Fleet Supervisor and all repair/maintenance needs of the assigned fleet.
- Oversees fleet inventory systems.
- Manages designated 5s Leader, Field Supervisors, and Production Managers.
- Creates incident reports for accidents or close calls per company policy.
- Drives ECF Egress and ECF Ingress standards.
- Financial
- Responsible for purchasing goods, services, and materials within job budget; obtains approval for overages.
- Completes internal documentation related to purchasing procedures.
- Manages job budget for hours and materials with Production Managers and Field Supervisors.
- Approves expense reports, payroll for field staff, and purchasing requisitions weekly.
- May assist with accounts receivable (AR) matters as directed by the Director of Operations.
- Client Management
- Coordinates with clients and Account Executives to ensure high customer satisfaction before, during, and after project delivery.
- Participates in customer service activities as directed by the Director of Operations or corporate office.
- Human Resources
- Participates in recruiting, hiring, and team development.
- Ensures new hires complete orientation per company policy.
- Enforces company policies, safety rules, and excellence guidelines.
- Maintains adequate staffing levels to meet production needs.
- Administers disciplinary protocols for subordinates.
- Manages uniforms and company-provided tools/equipment for subordinates.
- Sales & Quality Assurance Support
- Assists Account Executives and Project Managers with estimating and proposal development.
- Seeks referrals for additional work opportunities.
- Manages post-sale quality control and warranty programs.
- Image Control
- Ensures assigned fleet, personnel uniforms/grooming, facility cleanliness, and job sites meet corporate professional standards.
- Conducts etiquette, behavior, and professional standards training for subordinates.
- Ensures personnel observe safety standards in all work environments.
- Security
- Must pass security background checks for high-security environments.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license free of violations or accidents.
- Prohibited from using illicit drugs or prescribed pharmaceuticals that impair job safety.
Language Skills
Requires proficiency in English for written and oral communication, interpreting data/documents, responding to situations, learning new skills, and interacting with others under deadlines.
Physical Demands
- Frequently stands, walks, and sits; occasionally uses hands to handle objects, reaches with arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, or crouches.
- Occasionally lifts/moves up to 60 pounds.
- Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception vision.
- May require long working hours for emergencies, urgent responses, or winter weather storm management.
Work Environment
The role involves occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather. Noise levels are usually moderate. Travel is required throughout the Allentown Service Center market, with occasional travel to other ECF offices for training.
