Operations Manager – Residential Restoration & Field Operations

Moldman St. Louis is seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead daily field operations, coordinate residential restoration projects, support field crews, and provide an excellent customer experience. This is not a desk-only management position; you will spend meaningful time in the field, especially during initial training, learning how projects are estimated, scheduled, completed, documented, and closed out. You will work directly with the owner and gradually take ownership of day-to-day operations, with the long-term goal of becoming a trusted operational leader.

About the role

This position is ideal for a construction, restoration, home-services, or field-operations professional who wants greater responsibility, direct influence, and long-term leadership potential within a growing local company. The role involves regular local and regional travel throughout the St. Louis service area, Missouri, and Southern Illinois. No licenses or certifications are required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily field operations for residential mold remediation and specialty restoration projects.
• Coordinate multiple active projects, crews, schedules, materials, equipment, and job-site priorities.
• Meet with field teams each morning to review project plans, assignments, timelines, and potential obstacles.
• Visit active job sites to monitor progress, verify quality, support crews, and resolve operational issues.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within expected budgets.
• Act as a reliable and professional point of contact for homeowners throughout the project.
• Address customer questions, concerns, and changes calmly and effectively.
• Help crews navigate unexpected site conditions and determine practical solutions.
• Coordinate dumpsters, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other job-site requirements.
• Review project documentation, photographs, schedules, notes, and completion details.
• Learn the full customer and project lifecycle, from initial lead and estimate through project completion and payment.
• Support estimating and job-scoping activities as experience develops.
• Monitor project efficiency, labor use, job costs, and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Maintain strong communication between the owner, estimator, office support, field crews, customers, and subcontractors.
• Help create systems and processes that reduce the company’s dependence on the owner.
• Take on broader operational leadership responsibilities as knowledge of the business grows.

Requirements

• Proven experience coordinating multiple projects, job sites, crews, routes, or service appointments simultaneously.
• Experience leading field employees, technicians, construction crews, or subcontractors.
• Strong customer-service and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners during stressful or disruptive situations.
• Strong organization, prioritization, and follow-through.
• Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
• Comfortable working in residential homes, basements, attics, crawl spaces, and active construction or restoration environments.
• Willingness to spend substantial time in the field during training and as operational needs require.
• Willingness and ability to drive throughout the regional service area.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Comfortable working in a small, owner-led business where responsibilities may be broad.
• Self-starter mentality with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Ability to use computers, mobile applications, scheduling tools, digital photos, and project-management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 or more years of experience in residential construction, restoration, home services, specialty contracting, field-service operations, or construction project management.
• Knowledge of residential building systems, materials, and construction practices.
• Experience coordinating materials, equipment, dumpsters, subcontractors, or job-site logistics.
• Experience reviewing estimates, job costs, labor use, margins, or project profitability.
• Experience managing customer complaints or service escalations.
• Experience training, coaching, or developing field employees.
• Experience working in a small or growing business.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, operations, or a related field.
• Direct mold remediation experience is helpful but not required; the company will train the right operational leader in mold-specific processes and technical requirements.

Training and Certifications

No mold remediation licenses or certifications are required at the time of hire. The selected employee will receive paid, hands-on training that may include:

• Water Restoration Technician training
• Additional technical and industry certifications
• Estimating and job-scoping procedures

Certain certifications may require paid travel and an occasional overnight stay. Required training, certification fees, and approved travel expenses will be covered by the company.

Travel Expectations

• Regular travel to residential job sites throughout the St. Louis region, Missouri, and Southern Illinois.
• Most projects are located within approximately two hours of St. Louis.
• Employees normally return home each evening.
• Occasional longer day trips may be required.
• Rare overnight travel may be required for paid training or certification.
• Travel frequency will be higher during the initial training and operational learning period.

Pay

Annual salary of $70,000–$80,000, based on experience, plus an annual performance-based bonus opportunity.

Schedule

• Full-time, Monday–Friday
• No routine late nights or weekends
