About the Role
As part of the leadership team, the Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day non-selling functions of the boutique, working closely with Boutique Management to ensure smooth operations across payroll, POS, shipping and receiving, after-sales service, loss prevention, supply orders, expense control, and facilities maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards, including safekeeping of funds and property, personnel practices, security, inventory management, sales, and record-keeping.
- Train, coach, and manage associates in operations tasks such as POS procedures, return processes, alteration requests, and safety/security protocols.
- Monitor accuracy of receiving, transfers, damages, and returns-to-vendor (RTVs) to maintain inventory integrity.
- Ensure adequate security measures and compliance with safety codes and ordinances for physical facilities.
- Conduct regular inventory cycle counts as directed.
- Coordinate communication between the boutique and central distribution or corporate inventory control.
- Produce and maintain operational reports to ensure adherence to company policies.
- Organize and oversee back-of-house operations.
- Lock and secure the boutique, ensuring compliance with opening/closing and security procedures.
- Assist with payroll management, associate scheduling, and compliance with payroll budgets.
- Address problems affecting the boutique’s service, efficiency, and productivity.
- Provide outstanding customer service and inspire the same in associates.
- Exercise judgment and discretion in day-to-day operations, collaborating with the management team.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of boutique facilities and equipment, including HVAC, electrical systems, security systems, and communications/MIS systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of retail store management with a strong operations background.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle merchandise, fixtures, and boxes (lifting required).
- Willingness to adhere to all company policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.
- Availability to travel as needed.
Skills
- Effective management of store operations, including payroll, customer service, shipping/receiving, alterations, and facilities.
- Proficiency in operating POS systems, inventory control systems, cash registers, sensor-tag removers, and other office equipment.
- Ability to develop and train staff, build relationships, and utilize workforce skills effectively.
- Strong time management and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
