Operations Manager, Fabrication
Overview
Consider joining the Pennex family as an Operations Manager, Fabrication at our Leetonia, OH location. This role manages and coordinates activities of the Leetonia Precision Engineered Products (PEP) department engaged in cutting, machining, stretch-forming, assembly and other value-added activities for structural, automotive, ornamental and other aluminum products. This position works alongside other departments, such as engineering, operations, maintenance, sales, and quality to ensure the highest quality, highest margin products are manufactured in a safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Fosters our dual bottom-line philosophy by leading and demonstrating a culture of safety excellence and engaging employees in behavior-based safety initiatives.
- Responsible for leading, coaching, and evaluating all shifts for the Precision Engineered Products team. Directly and indirectly leads the department through Supervisors across multiple shifts thereby optimizing performance.
- Makes sure business goals and metrics are met, executes the business plan and meets key metrics such as safety, profitability and sales volume.
- Ensures customer expectations are met or exceeded by reviewing production and operating reports and resolving operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Develops and implements operating methods to improve quality production along with internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Develops and implements methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating and maintenance issues while improving product quality.

- Manages PEP Supervisors across all shifts and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, evaluation and performance of this unit.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws; these include: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment for the employees.
- Responsible for the P&L of the Fabrication department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or engineering or equivalent experience is required.
- Experience: 7 to 10 years of manufacturing leadership experience, 7 to 10 years of fabrication experience in advanced manufacturing, technical/machining background – PEP/metals fabrication experience preferred.
- Technical/machining background: Thorough understanding of advanced manufacturing, strong analytical skills with production experience, experience managing multiple process streams, ability to work cross functionally within the organization (finance, sales, operations, leadership), thorough understanding of automotive experience.
- Other Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: A desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment, highly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn and apply new skills, attentive to details and follows through on assigned tasks and commitments, flexible and driven to meet tight deadlines, handle multiple projects and prioritize them appropriately, proficient in MS Office, able to problem solve, strong organizational skills, and ability to effectively disseminate information in a clear and concise manner.
