Operations Manager

This position is based in Perris, CA, supporting the Riverside Transit Agency Microtransit contract. The Operations Manager reports directly to the General Manager and oversees daily operations, including Microtransit route supervision, staff and operator management, and effective communication with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily activities of all Microtransit operators and coordinates the activities of supervisors and dispatch personnel.
• Maintains routine client contact to meet or exceed expectations.
• Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly reviews of key operational metrics.
• Works with subcontractors to identify and resolve service issues.
• Oversees scheduling of operators; monitors operations and coordinates service delivery with superiors.
• Collaborates with the maintenance department to ensure all operational service requirements are met.
• Tracks, compiles, and analyzes performance; handles interdepartmental issues; resolves employee issues and grievances; improves processes and route scheduling.
• Makes hiring decisions for authorized roles; evaluates staff performance; ensures timely and efficient completion of assigned tasks.
• Assists in accident/incident investigations, including on-site support for safety and training personnel.
• Coordinates with the safety and training department to ensure all safety goals and directives are met.
• Develops the Operations department budget.
• May operate a vehicle in revenue service if necessary.
• Performs other duties as required, including occasional travel outside the immediate area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) required.
• 3+ years of relevant transit supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of transit system regulations and operations.
• Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant database programs.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize and perform work efficiently with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with labor, including handling labor grievances and negotiations.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical, if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions—100% of the job is performed outside, often alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances on sloped, slippery, or uneven surfaces.
• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds occasionally throughout the workday; lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
• Occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment stored at ground level.
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.

Pay

Competitive compensation package with a salary range of $90,000 – $112,000.
