About the role

We are seeking a leader to manage and optimize operations at our site, ensuring reliable, predictable, and efficient production and shipping of quality products while maintaining high standards of Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the operations function to produce and ship quality products on time and in a reliable manner.
  • Drive execution to achieve targeted performance levels as measured by key Manufacturing Excellence and other internal performance indicators.
  • Manage departmental costs and support other site departments to achieve their respective budgets.
  • Continually increase the efficiency and overall output of the workforce and reduce unit production costs.
  • Lead, manage, coach, and develop Operations supervisory and support personnel.
  • Conduct daily informal inspections on the shop floor and provide feedback to supervision on observations and corrective actions.
  • Drive root cause identification/failure analysis and corrective actions for HSSE and operations related failures.
  • Develop, implement, and continually improve operational management systems.
  • Develop, report, and monitor key performance indicators for operations.
  • Support the plant’s quality management systems and its compliance with pertinent quality standards (e.g. RCMS, ISO, EFfCI, RSPO, etc.).
  • Conduct or direct the completion of investigations of incidents or near misses, as appropriate, and ensure corrective actions are identified, assigned, and completed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial safety, process safety, or industrial hygiene.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Experience with safety management systems, exposure assessment tools, and risk analysis methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
  • Relevant certifications (CIH, CSP, etc.) are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, coach, and develop personnel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office and a general understanding of databases.
  • Understanding of OSHA standards relating to life critical activities (Syensqo Life Saving Rules).
  • Working understanding of OSHA personnel and process safety standards.
  • General awareness of environmental regulations and the ability to understand and manage operational compliance of the site’s air, waste, wastewater, and storm water permits.
  • Ability to conduct investigations, develop root causes, and to develop/implement corrective actions, either directly or through subordinates.
  • Familiarity with batch and continuous processing a plus.
  • Knowledge of 6 Sigma, Lean Manufacturing concepts, and/or SAP is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to interface with the appropriate external personnel and serve as a backup to the Plant Manager in both internal and external affairs.

Pay

The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $135,000 to $160,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
