About the Role
The individual will be responsible for product line P&L and will achieve key operating metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. This role drives both KPI and CPI results through problem solving and decision making on the factory floor.
Responsibilities
- Exercises direct supervision over departmental supervisors to achieve schedules, quality, and efficiency on a line-item basis.
- Plans production schedule for the designated manufacturing area to meet sales order book.
- Works with production control to ensure parts, process sheets, and raw materials are available.
- Accountable for maintaining discipline in accordance with company policy and for maintaining health and safety regulations.
- Participates in the decision-making process for improvements to reduce scrap and overall costs; recommends efficiency and quality enhancements.
- Mentors supervisors to improve their skills and develops operator training matrix to improve quality and efficiency.
- Follows and administers budgets determined by Plant Manager; prepares reports outlining progress as it pertains to departmental budget guidelines.
- Utilizes the annual evaluation process as a communication tool with employees for goal setting and development programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a four-year college or university.
- Three to five years of related manufacturing experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in Aerospace manufacturing (desirable).
- Experience with CNC machines and equipment.
- Familiarity with earned hours, overhead rates, and factor costs.
- Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident (“green card” holder), or have refugee or asylee status (role is subject to ITAR/EAR compliance).
Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficiency in Data Base Software, Manufacturing Software, Spreadsheet Software, and Word Processing software.
Physical and Environmental Demands
- Primarily works indoors in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Regularly required to sit and talk or hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Special Requirements
- Some travel may be required to visit customers or suppliers.
- Exempt position; hours vary depending on business needs, including some Saturdays.
Pay
$107,000 – $118,000. This range is the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation for this role in California based on responsibilities, qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s specific experience, education, skills, and other relevant factors.
