About the role
The Operations Manager at QCD, a subsidiary of GSF, oversees warehouse and transportation operations to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals. This position assumes General Manager duties in senior management's absence.
Responsibilities
- Plans and coordinates warehouse, transportation, and purchasing activities to ensure department and GSF productivity and quality objectives are met or exceeded.
- Manages assigned staff, assigning work, providing training and development, evaluating performance, and building a motivated, effective team to ensure diversity, career development, productivity, performance management, and employee involvement are met.
- Audits operational procedures and programs to identify and implement improvements in product availability, storage, sanitation, security, and inventory delivery, resulting in increased timeliness and productivity.
- Develops, audits, and controls the budget within plan.
- Oversees purchasing, leasing, and maintenance of distribution equipment (tractors, trailers, material handling equipment) to achieve safety, longevity, and efficiency objectives.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures to comply with company, customer, and regulatory agency guidelines for safety and productivity.
- Communicates with senior management and employees to ensure the effective dissemination of company policies, analysis, and operations-related information required for effective decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Logistics/Distribution management from an accredited college or university.
- 7 to 10 years of work experience in a distribution environment, including transportation and warehouse management.
- Experience in food distribution preferred.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
- Some P/L management experience needed.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of warehouse, transportation, and purchasing concepts and techniques.
- Understanding of regulatory policies and procedures (OSHA, DOT).
- Ability to manage and motivate employees in a team-based environment.
- Effective communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to identify problems and resolve them proactively.
- Basic computer skills, including PC word processing/spreadsheet software.
