About the role

The Operations Manager at the Company plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and accurate management of warehouse functions, including the supervision of drivers, loaders, and warehouse staff. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of dispatch operations, inventory control, and customer service to facilitate prompt and precise delivery of products to job sites. By collaborating with the Branch Manager and maintaining strict adherence to safety and operational standards, the Operations Manager supports the seamless execution of branch operations, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction in alignment with the company's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of building materials in alignment with corporate standards.

  • Manage and coordinate the dispatching of trucks to guarantee timely and accurate deliveries to job sites, optimizing routes for safe and effective transportation by properly utilizing SRS routing technology.

  • Supervise the loading and unloading processes, ensuring prompt and precise handling of orders for vendors and customers, while maintaining inventory accuracy.

  • Implement and manage comprehensive inventory control measures, including purchasing, weekly cycle counts, pricing strategies, and the evaluation of damaged or outdated stock, to optimize stock levels and reduce waste.

  • Lead and conduct safety audits and meetings to ensure full compliance with company safety standards, fostering a secure and hazard-free work environment.

  • Oversee the maintenance and operational readiness of all logistics equipment, including tractors, trailers, and forklifts, to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

  • Administer and track work hours for the drivers and warehouse staff to ensure proper task allocation and adherence to labor regulations.

  • Collaborate with the Branch Manager to support overall branch operations, including order processing, end-of-day balancing, and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives across all functional areas.

Requirements

Capacity to perform optimally in fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or analogous software. Aptitude for executing mathematical calculations related to discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Mastery of the English language for reading purchase orders and effective team communication. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential. Proficiency in local area navigation and efficient truck routing. Familiarity with ERP systems is considered beneficial.

Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required. College-level coursework is considered advantageous. A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred, with additional consideration given to candidates who have completed relevant college coursework beyond the minimum qualification requirement of a High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in leading multi-faceted warehouse operations with a focus on optimizing team performance and operational efficiency in the building materials or construction supply industry.

  • Proven track record in strategic planning and execution, with the ability to develop and implement operational strategies that drive productivity and process improvements.

  • Extensive understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles, including inventory management, distribution, and vendor relations, to enhance overall operational effectiveness.

  • Proficient in utilizing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for inventory control and management, providing real-time data analytics to inform decision-making.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards, with the ability to conduct effective safety audits and lead initiatives to uphold workplace safety and operational adherence to legal requirements.

  • Strong financial management skills with experience in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and cost control to ensure the profitability and sustainability of operations.

  • Ability to analyze complex operational challenges and implement innovative solutions that align with business objectives and enhance customer satisfaction.

  • Established relationships with local vendors and suppliers in the building materials sector, facilitating efficient procurement and strong negotiation capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration, aligned with the company’s "Make Money and Have Fun!" ethos, while inspiring team members to achieve organizational goals.

  • Previous experience in the roofing industry is advantageous but not mandatory.

Skills

Forklift Certification - Preferred. Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Preferred. Possession of relevant professional certifications such as Certified Operations Manager (COM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) is advantageous.

Benefits

Base salary typically falls within the range of $59,600.00 to $77,400.00 annually. Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. SRS Distribution offers additional competitive and non-financial benefits. Depending on the role, associates may also be eligible for performance-based bonus programs, commissions, profit-sharing programs, car allowance or automobile and fuel program, and reimbursement for travel expenses in accordance with company travel policy.

The base salary for this position typically falls within the range of $59,600.00 to $77,400.00 annually.
