POSITION PURPOSE

The Operations Manager oversees the production, estimating, programming, quality, planning and purchasing functions. This position is responsible for managing process effectiveness and procedure documentation which will enable the production team to meet the needs and expectations of our customers.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Set strategic direction within each functional area in alignment with company objectives.
  • Provide day to day direction and leadership to support efficient operations.
  • Ensure that current processes and procedures are documented, and measures are in place to prevent errors and rework.
  • Manage the quality function including initiatives concerned with identifying the source of non-conformance issues, improving processes and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Maintain standards to ensure parts are up to customer quality and specification.
  • Manage estimation and bidding phase to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the purchasing and distribution of materials while ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness of delivery.
  • Drive best planning capabilities throughout the production process.
  • Evaluate, plan, promote, and execute long-term solutions that drive productive and efficient practices within the operations service functions, which result in high customer satisfaction.
  • Define and implement staffing and organizational design strategies that maximize customer satisfaction, team productivity, and cost effectiveness.
  • Recommend changes based on an analysis of metrics and drive effective change management efforts.
  • Direct the activities of the programming department and the manufacturing process engaged in writing the programs for the machining of thermoplastics and metals.
  • Oversee the preparation of materials and products for shipment while ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness of delivery.
  • Communicate department’s vision, metrics and achievements on a regular basis.
  • Design and implement strategies that support the ongoing learning and development of staff members.
  • Mentor, train, and coach team members to ensure they have the knowledge and skills needed to be effective.
  • Keep informed of key industry and market information including trends, emerging technologies, and resource enhancements.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to and promote all company standards and policies.

  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD prints.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the capacity to learn new systems.

Required EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ten plus years of relevant experience in manufacturing.
  • Previous management or leadership experience.
  • PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.

Physical Demands

  • Sit, stand, and walk throughout the building.
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Starting salary

$100,000 - $150,000 base salary plus annual bonus opportunity
