About the role
The Operations Manager - 2nd Shift will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence by overseeing and optimizing key operational activities during the second shift. This role serves as a linchpin between strategic goals and functional execution, aligning operations with broader organizational objectives related to efficiency, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability. The Operations Manager acts as a leader, mentor, and problem solver, directly influencing the company's output, productivity, and cost-effectiveness through collaboration with cross-functional teams and leveraging advanced technologies.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight and on-the-ground leadership to the second-shift operations team, ensuring optimal resource utilization and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Oversee and coordinate operational workflows spanning logistics, supply chain, and production, emphasizing efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
- Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and compliance measures to maintain a high-functioning, risk-averse environment.
- Analyze performance metrics and identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation, executing actionable strategies to enhance efficiency and minimize waste.
- Recruit, train, and mentor team members on the second shift, fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture centered on professional growth and excellence.
- Verify employee time/payroll information and authorize overtime.
- Assist with planning and budget processes.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, and employees.
Requirements
- At least 5+ years of progressive experience in operations, logistics, or supply chain management, with demonstrated success in a leadership capacity.
- Strong understanding of operational processes in logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing and the ability to manage and optimize complex workflows across teams.
- Intermediate-level proficiency in Excel and Word.
- Experience with various Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Experience managing KPIs and SLAs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven track record of leading second-shift or off-hours operations teams in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
- Experience training, monitoring, evaluating, supervising, and disciplining employees based on goals and duties.
