Operations Leader

About the role

The Operations Leader at Owens Corning is responsible for creating and fulfilling production schedules that meet revenue, labor contribution margins, on-time delivery, and quality targets. They provide direction to production personnel and implement lean manufacturing principles to maximize production efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Implements strategic programs to enhance labor efficiency, on-time delivery, continuous quality improvement, safety, and customer satisfaction
• Generates monthly reports to track program contributions, lead times, on-time delivery, continuous improvement efforts, and manufacturing issues
• Drives a corporate culture focused on facts, results, and behaviors, ensuring safety and employee engagement
• Maintains manufacturing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe work environment; and developing personal growth opportunities
• Communicates job goals and expectations; plans, monitors, and appraises job results; coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees; and enforces systems, policies, and procedures
• Produces products by establishing production planning systems; maintaining good manufacturing practices; enforcing quality standards; and improving products and processes
• Interfaces with Plant GM and Supply Chain Manager to develop purchasing and logistical systems, inventory management, and production control requirements
• Achieves financial objectives by establishing objectives; developing budgets; controlling costs; and maximizing asset use
• Contributes to team effort by providing leadership needed to ensure product quality meets specifications and criteria for all products shipped from the plant
• Ensures efficient utilization of plant personnel and equipment to meet productivity and cost-effectiveness goals
• Works with all functional departments to actively pursue manufacturing excellence programs and foster a "one Plant" partnership with peers to achieve aligned goals
• Develops and implements an annual operating plan including capital plan, cost-down projects, production department budget, eliminating non-value-added activities, and defining Six Sigma & Kaizen profit-improvement programs across the plant
• Behaves continuously and consistently with desired Masonite Mprove values and characteristics, communicates and facilitates meetings effectively, identifies and resolves issues skillfully and in a timely manner, keeps up with emerging technology and industry practices, and demonstrates integrity and respect

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Operations
• Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in Manufacturing Management
• Preferred experience, knowledge, or training in Six Sigma Lean Methodologies, including Six Sigma Lean GB certification
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
• Excellent organizational skills, leadership qualities, and computer literacy
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and MS Project
• Familiarity with various measuring devices and analyzing information
• Good understanding of HR and financial acumen
