About the Role
V2X is seeking an Operations Lead to support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Perimeter Intrusion and Detection System (PIDS) deployed at the metro NY airports. The PIDS Operations Lead works as part of a New York/New Jersey-based System Engineering and Maintenance team that designs, builds, integrates, tests, maintains, and supports this 24/7 operational surveillance system.
This position will be primarily responsible for supporting the V2X Site Lead/Airport Manager with coordination and execution of the weekly maintenance and installation schedules and field subcontractor oversight. The selected candidate should be self-starting and inquisitive with good written and verbal communication skills and thrive in the challenges of working in an operational environment. Technical experience with low voltage troubleshooting and/or fiber testing/splicing experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Management of Field Technician assignments and tasks as set in the weekly maintenance and project schedules based on priorities set by the Site Lead/PE/PM.
- Plan, execute, and document preventive & corrective maintenance schedule and new sensor installations.
- Learn all equipment, their uses, and field troubleshooting techniques by way of researching existing O&M manuals and OJT with the site lead and/or field engineers.
- Generate daily reports of field activities by V2X technicians.
- Provide oversight of subcontractors for ongoing PIDS installations as part of larger PANYJ construction projects.
- Schedule, provide, or facilitate specialized training for technicians through OJT and engineering team-up training.
- Participate in a rotation of 24/7 on-call hotline support.
- Assess and recommend improvements to existing processes & procedures.
- Ensure quality of work performed by the field technician team.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience, including 3 years supporting operational systems (airport environment preferred).
- Experience leading a team of 3+ personnel.
- Experience managing subcontractors on small or large projects.
- Experience with Windows/Microsoft products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Candidate must be able to obtain a SIDA badge issued by the PANYNJ (customer) by completing a Federal background check and agreeing to enroll in the FBI’s Rap Back program.
- Must live in the New York City / Northern New Jersey metro area and be able to work from our offices at either the Newark, LaGuardia, or JFK airports.
- A 24/7 on-call rotation is a requirement for this position.
Qualifications
- A two-year technical degree, an accredited apprenticeship program, or the equivalent in a technical field.
Desired Experience
- Experience with fiber optics is preferred.
