Operations Department Leader
About the role
The Manufacturing Department Supervisor/Operations Department Head is responsible for providing technical input, solutions, and options for improving productivity and efficiencies in the assigned areas of the plant. This individual will be responsible for ensuring a motivated and skilled workforce and will directly supervise the department supervisor and/or team lead.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area to meet goals in productivity, quality, and cost control.
- Establish priorities for the department and works closely with Plant Engineering Manager, Plant Operations Manager, and the HR Manager to ensure the effective utilization of available resources.
- Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
- Work with support functional groups to ensure manufacturing plans are executed per cost and schedule goals of the plant.
- Lead projects that support manufacturing needs.
- Oversee projects within their production departments to ensure critical path, milestones and objectives are met.
- Receives and gives work assignments with general instructions.
- Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
- Interact with subordinate supervisors, outside customers and functional peer groups at management levels - interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.
- Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, and checking work at frequent intervals.
- A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the unit or sub-unit.
- Encompasses the direction and inspection of the performance of individuals or a team of associates who put together components to make assemblies, subassemblies, or completed units, or make or process raw materials into finished products in an industrial environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering
- 2 years of prior supervisory or military leadership experience
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information to groups.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
Qualifications
- US Citizenship required

Pay
The range for this position is $96,045.00 - $132,062.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
