OPERATIONAL SUPPORT COACH
MJ Quinn is a UK-based infrastructure services provider specialising in delivering comprehensive, end-to-end solutions across telecommunications, utilities, and mechanical and electrical engineering. Our Service Delivery contract with Openreach has grown from 10 engineers in 2011 to over 1,200 engineers today, connecting over 25,000 customers to the Openreach network every week through individual appointments for copper phone line provision, managed install broadband, FTTP, and PCP-only provision.
About the role
The individual will deliver one-to-one coaching based on an agreed plan using the full spectrum of MIS reports. The role supports new engineers within the allocated area, aiming to improve quality, safety, and customer-centric behaviour in the network. The Support Coach will also roll out in-field process changes, new ways of working, equipment updates, re-assessments, and restoration of revoked licences.
Responsibilities
- Promote a positive and professional image of the department by adhering to company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Raise and follow up on non-conformance reports to ensure identified actions are pursued and resolved.
- Work safely and responsibly within MJ Quinn’s values and operational policies to avoid harm to yourself, colleagues, and communities.
- Maximise performance and delivery of individual engineers through high-quality, supportive coaching interventions for safety, quality, and effectiveness.
- Provide feedback to the Management Team on all coaching interventions and ensure suitably competent engineers are deployed to field teams.
- Use the FPQS system for recording visits and registering issues and resolutions.
- Support new engineers in adapting to the working environment and developing their skills and aptitude.
- Assist engineers in understanding and training on new products.
- Deliver local training through coaching workshops, either in-field or at the Training School as required.
- Carry out planned field-based assessment and accreditation programmes as directed by the Operational Support Manager and Area/General Managers.
- Conduct Post Training Event evaluations, monitoring, and coaching to support customer commitments and provide on-the-day technical assistance.
- Perform retrospective Quality Checks on engineers' work under the direction of the Operational Support Manager.
- Adhere to MJ Quinn Quality Standards and comply with the Company Handbook, Policies, and Procedures.
- Follow all relevant company policies and procedures regarding data protection, data security, cyber security, and access to information.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure staff follow Health & Safety policies.
- Maintain an audit-ready Site Safety File.
- Organise sites to minimise risk.
- Ensure RAMS, PPE, and documentation are maintained.
- Lead by example and report incidents.
Requirements
- Experience in a similar coaching or support role.
- Proven background in coaching telecoms engineers.
Pay
£35,000 per annum.
Schedule
Between 8am – 8pm, Monday to Friday.
