About the role

Under supervision, plans, organizes, develops, coordinates, and evaluates training and development programs for Transmission and Generation Operations (TGO). This role ensures adequately trained and qualified TGO System Operators who maintain safe and reliable electric system operations in compliance with NERC, WECC, FERC, and other applicable regulatory requirements. The position involves collaboration with all employee levels and various internal and external organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) following the A.D.D.I.E. process to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training programs for TGO personnel.
  • Analyzes and leads the process of identifying training needs, solutions, and targeted audiences for TGO, other employees, and/or external stakeholders.
  • Designs targeted, specific training courses by determining lesson plans, learning objectives, training formats (materials, media, delivery), subject matter experts, and assessment/evaluation methods.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive training courses to ensure personnel are adequately trained on NERC and WECC Standards, FERC Orders, and all necessary applications and tools for their job duties.
  • Creates and maintains training materials, including presentations, student guides, instructor guides, and handouts.
  • Documents and maintains records of all required compliance evidence and training documentation.
  • Evaluates student course feedback and implements identified changes.
  • Prepares, conducts, and evaluates Training Needs Analyses as needed.
  • Conducts special studies, reviews, and develops operational procedures, preparing technical reports as required.
  • Participates in regular Transmission and Generation Operations (TGO) meetings as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent education and a minimum of three (3) years of direct work experience in training System Operators on related job duties.
  • College-level coursework (100+ credits) from an accredited institution may be evaluated for applicability by management.
  • Active NERC certification or previously NERC certified or non-NERC certified (with willingness to obtain certification within six months of hire).
