About the role
The Operating System Engineer II position is responsible for maintaining and optimizing operating systems to ensure high availability and performance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Independently implement new solutions and upgrades with minimal assistance.
- Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
- Provide technical support, guidance, assistance, and training as required.
- Participate in the development and implementation of a disaster recovery plan.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate and support various applications and services.
Requirements
- On-call responsibilities and on-site responsibilities.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience or a total of 7 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
- Valid Driver's License required; MCSA Certification or higher preferred.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Alternatively, 7 years of relevant experience.
- Technical Background: Solid technical background with hands-on experience.
- Scripting Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash for automation tasks.
- Active Directory: Expertise in managing user accounts and permissions.
- Citrix: Expertise in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix ADC, and Citrix Endpoint Management.
- Microsoft 365: Administration of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
- Microsoft Intune: Experience with device management and security.
- Azure Active Directory: Knowledge of identity and access management, encryption, and compliance.
- Cloud Technologies: Knowledge of major cloud platforms such as OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP, and proficiency in managing cloud services like virtual machines, storage, databases, and networking.
- Cloud Security: Understanding of cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and compliance.
- Cloud Automation: Experience with cloud automation tools and frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Cloud Monitoring: Familiarity with cloud monitoring and logging tools to ensure the health and performance of cloud resources.
