Operating Room Nurse - Experienced

About the role

Provides direct patient care in the perioperative environment, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation following established nursing standards.

Responsibilities

• Educates patients and families about surgical procedures, expectations, and support resources, acting as a liaison between physician and patient.
• Demonstrates competence in scrubbing and/or circulating for various surgical services as defined by hospital guidelines.
• Prepares and assists with surgeries using established safety techniques, ensuring proper instruments, supplies, and equipment are available.
• Maintains patient safety by preventing adverse events such as infections or injuries, monitors during procedures for complications, and manages operative specimens appropriately.
• Participates in safety, quality, and regulatory activities; engages in professional development and may orient new staff.

Qualifications

• Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Experience: 2+ years as an Operating Room Nurse.
• Licenses: RN licensure; CNOR certification preferred.
• Skills: Critical thinking, professional judgment, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in surgical procedures.
