Operating Room Assistant

About the Role

University Hospital houses 23 operating rooms (ORs) covering various service lines including Thoracic, General Surgery, Hepatobiliary, Urology, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Oral, Plastics, Ear, Nose, and Throat, as well as Abdominal Transplant (Liver, Kidney, Pancreas, Intestine, and Multivesicular). As an integral part of the Academic Health Center, our focus lies on high-acuity patient care, particularly emphasizing cancer-related treatments. We seek highly motivated individuals to join our collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.

Schedule

This is a full-time day shift role working 7:00 AM–5:30 PM with a rotating day off. No weekends required.

Responsibilities

• Support the surgical team before, during, and after surgery.
• Assist with operating room preparation by cleaning, procuring equipment, and opening sterile supplies.
• Provide transportation and needed assistance with patient care.
• Assist Surgical Techs and Nurses with various assigned duties.
• Work as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, surgical technologists, and other surgical personnel.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required.
• Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of a sterile field.
• Physical stamina and proper lifting techniques required.
