Qualifications
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
- Two (2) years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record.
Major Duties/Essential Functions
- Schedules and conducts inspections of gauges, meters, controls, and equipment such as HVAC systems to ensure that all units are operating properly and prepares inspection reports.
- Adjusts, services, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance and filter replacement on all HVAC equipment to ensure optimum efficiency of operation.
- Works and coordinates with school administrators and staff and the responsible department to provide the most energy-efficient utilization of the school's operating systems.
- Inspects and performs routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs to plumbing and electrical systems.
- Affords assistance in the orientation and training of professional and custodial staff in the operation of the school's mechanical equipment.
- Performs or assists with emergency repairs as required.
- Makes requests and works with the maintenance staff in regular or emergency situations.
- Conducts systematic inspections of elementary and middle schools in the region and assists building supervisors with mechanical maintenance activities.
- Maintains logs and writes reports, as required.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
- Strength, agility, dexterity, and visual acuity to perform all tasks.
- Adhere to all site safety regulations.
- Regularly stand, sit, walk, bend, climb ladders, and/or kneel.
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold, outdoor environments, heavy equipment, moving machinery, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises.
- Lifting up to 25 lbs., periodically lifting/moving up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lifting/moving up to 100 lbs. alone or with assistance.
