About the role
This position involves operating and maintaining all aspects of mechanical, electrical, and building infrastructure in a mission critical data center. The goal is to provide 100% Uptime of the data center by monitoring and operating equipment, performing installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing/piping equipment, machinery, and controls.
The role requires working 2nd shift, 1:30pm – 10pm, Monday - Friday, with rotating on-call duties 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, depending on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and building infrastructure in the data center
- Monitor and operate equipment to provide 100% Uptime
- Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing/piping equipment
- Monitor operations and conduct routine assessments of building systems operations and performance
- Perform tests, rounds, and analyze data to ensure proper functioning of equipment
- Oversee vendors/contractors in executing annual OEM preventative maintenance and repairs
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent, technical training or degree
- Operating Engineer or other applicable licenses and Universal CFC’s license
- Ability to understand and interpret design and construction documents relating to critical sites, spaces, and systems
- Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office and email
- Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills and ability to communicate with internal and external customers
Desired Skills
- Certified Mission Critical Operator (CMCO) Certification
- 5+ years of related work experience in a technical, critical environment operation
- Experience working on energized equipment (hot work)
- Technical knowledge and understanding of mission critical systems, including HVAC, Standby emergency power, and uninterruptable power supplies
- Familiarity with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms and Data Hall (White Space) power distribution, cooling, and networking fundamentals
