About the role
The Health and Human Services system (HHS) is hiring attorneys to join the Open Records and Data Governance Department in the Legal Services Division of the HHS Office of Chief Counsel (OCC).
Responsibilities
- Communicates with requestors and HHS system areas to clarify and address requests.
- Covers coordination with HHS system areas and obtaining responsive documents for request.
- Reviews and redacts documents and provides responsive information to requestors.
- Prepares and sends briefs to the Office of the Attorney General addressing the confidentiality of requested information.
- Aids in the development of policies and procedures related to the Open Records process.
- Maintains tracking and other administrative work regarding requests.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of and ability to work with confidential records/files/information.
- Knowledge of widely used computer software.
- Skill operating a computer and using computer software.
- Skill performing tasks with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail.
- Ability to set priorities and goals for accomplishing workload within limited time frames.
- Ability to follow security policies and procedures while working with confidential records/files/information.
- Ability to understand and comply with written and oral instructions.
- Ability to use sound judgment and work independently to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear, effective and diplomatic manner.
Qualifications
- Attorney must be licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas and hold membership in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
