About the role

The Library and Information Science department at Rutgers University's School of Communication and Information invites applications for an open rank faculty position in Information Policy. This position is available at the assistant, associate, or full professor levels.

Responsibilities

• Undergraduate and graduate teaching assignments
• An active program of research in the candidate’s area of scholarly expertise
• Service contributions in accordance with the university policy for tenure-track and tenured appointments

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field by June 2026
• Demonstrated record or strong likelihood of top-tier peer-reviewed publications
• Evidence of or preparation for effective teaching
• Leadership in research, teaching, service, and, if appropriate, external funding

Qualifications

• Critical engagement with scholarly study, analysis, and/or development of information policy theories, frameworks, methods, and innovations
• Experience in areas such as governance, policy regulation and power, information organizations/institutions, socio-technical ecosystems, platforms, infrastructures, algorithmic bias and fairness, artificial intelligence (AI) policy, privacy, copyright/intellectual property, telecommunications, privacy/national security, access to government information, classification/declassification

• Strong publication record in top-tier peer-reviewed journals
