About the role

The Department of Biological Sciences at Florida International University (FIU) invites qualified candidates to apply for an Open Rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) position. This position focuses on scientists addressing groundbreaking questions at the interface of Big Data/AI/Bioinformatics and biological systems, as well as those using or developing innovative Big Data/AI/Bioinformatics methods for biological discovery.

Research that aligns with FIU’s long-term goals in innovation, environment, and health is desirable. Successful candidates could become affiliated with several preeminent research institutes and centers, including the Biomolecular Sciences Institute, the Institute of Environment, the Extreme Events Institute, and the Biscayne Bay Campus Robotics and Autonomous Systems Laboratory for Coastal Conservation and Restoration.

Responsibilities

  • Build an internationally prominent research program by bringing and maintaining an active, externally funded research program.
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Mentor graduate students in the Ph.D. program.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Evidence of active research.
  • Preference given to applicants with postdoctoral experience.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Active research record.
  • Ability to mentor graduate students.
  • Experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Skills

  • Expertise in Big Data/AI/Bioinformatics.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

The position is full-time and requires a standard 40-hour work week.
