About the role
The University of Virginia Department of Pediatrics and Division of Genetics invite applications for a non-tenure eligible clinical faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. Our team consists of three geneticists, seven genetic counselors, and two metabolic dieticians. We aim to expand our division with the addition of a fourth geneticist who is also interested in caring for individuals with inborn errors of metabolism.
Responsibilities
- Staffing general genetic and metabolic clinics in Charlottesville, as well as monthly/bi-monthly satellite clinics in Winchester, Lynchburg, and Bristol
- Shared coverage of the inpatient consultation service
- Timely response to the triage of newborn screening cases
- Working closely with a multidisciplinary staff of genetic counselors, dieticians, genetic counseling assistants and administrative assistants
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Eligible for appointment to the University of Virginia faculty
- Board-certified or eligible in clinical genetics
- Comfortable working closely with a multidisciplinary staff
- Preference for candidates with biochemical genetics board certification or eligibility
- Active research interest is desirable but not required
