About the role

The Department of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2023. The Department is looking for individuals with particular emphasis in the areas of experimental condensed matter physics, including the intersection of condensed matter physics and quantum information science.

Responsibilities

• Conduct innovative research in experimental condensed matter physics, including the intersection of condensed matter physics and quantum information science.
• Collaborate with colleagues in the Departments of Materials, and Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as with other interdisciplinary centers such as the California NanoSystems Institute, the Materials Research Laboratory, the Quantum Foundry, the Institute for Terahertz Science and Technology, and the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in experimental condensed matter physics and related fields.
• Participate in departmental, university, and professional activities to promote the field of experimental condensed matter physics.

Requirements

• A PhD in Physics or a closely related field.
• Outstanding research record in experimental condensed matter physics, including the intersection of condensed matter physics and quantum information science.
• Strong potential for attracting external funding.
• Excellent teaching skills and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.

• Research expertise in experimental condensed matter physics, including the intersection of condensed matter physics and quantum information science.
• Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and access to state-of-the-art facilities.
• Ability to mentor students and contribute to the academic community.

Skills
