About the role

The College of Information Studies (INFO) at the University of Maryland, College Park invites applications for an open rank tenured or tenure track faculty position focused on pursuing novel, innovative, and impactful research at the intersection of data science and survey methodology to address core societal information problems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality research in the field of data science and survey methodology
• Collaborate with other researchers and students to advance knowledge and methodologies
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in relevant areas
• Secure external funding to support research initiatives

Requirements

• PhD in Information Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
• Proven record of research excellence in data science and survey methodology
• Strong teaching and mentoring skills
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive environment

Qualifications

• Experience with social media and web data analysis
• Knowledge of survey methodology and its application to big data
• Interest in interdisciplinary research

Skills

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to mentor and supervise graduate students
