About the role
The Ontario Reign In-Arena Host will perform live in front of and entertain a large audience during structured time segments. This role involves engaging Ontario Reign fans, emceeing live game and event promotions, and representing the Reign brand positively at all times.
Responsibilities
- Host live promotional opportunities and intermission activities at Ontario Reign home games and events.
- Keep fans engaged by reciting memorized scripted content, improvising with the live audience, and conveying sponsor information.
- Assist and participate in rehearsals, including soundchecks and coordination with multiple departments for promotional delivery.
- Ensure all pre-game, in-game, and post-game entertainment, promotions, and activities are clearly explained to participants prior to execution.
- Execute promotions within specified timelines, ensuring smooth transitions between segments.
- Maintain a fun and engaging atmosphere for all promotions and activities.
Skills
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate with talent, entertainers, production crew, and stage managers.
- Excellent improvisational skills for live interviews, whether scripted or impromptu.
- Ability to memorize scripted text and perform in a live, high-pressure environment while interacting with guests of all ages.
- Exceptional multi-tasking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills in fast-paced settings.
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills for engaging with management, staff, guests, children, executives, celebrities, players, and VIPs.
- Ability to adhere to strict timing and adjust pacing as needed.
- Hockey and AHL experience preferred.
- Knowledge of and passion for the Ontario Reign preferred.
- Skating ability (hockey skates) is a plus but not required.
- IFB (Interruptible Foldback) experience is a plus but not required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (BA/BS Degree preferred).
- A minimum of 2-4 years of related work experience in live sports entertainment, TV/film production, or live events.
Pay
$30.00 per hour.
