Summary

The Release of Information Specialist (ROIS) initiates the medical record release process by inputting data into Verisma Software. This onsite position is based at a Verisma client site in Hartford, WI, and reports to the Manager of Operations, Release of Information. The role requires quick, careful work to ensure documentation is processed accurately and efficiently while providing exemplary customer service.

Responsibilities

• Process medical ROI requests in a timely and efficient manner.
• Utilize Verisma software applications to handle requests.
• Support the resolution of HIPAA‑related release issues.
• Organize records and documents to complete the ROI process.
• Read and interpret medical records, forms, and authorizations.
• Provide exemplary customer service in person, on the phone, and via email, as required.
• Interact with customers and co‑workers in a professional and friendly manner.
• Use reference material provided by Verisma to ensure compliance and maintain confidentiality.
• Attend required training sessions.
• Live by and promote Verisma company values.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure effective department and company operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred).
• 2+ years of medical record experience.
• 2+ years of clerical or office work experience.
• Proficiency with general office equipment, desktop computers, scanners, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
• Knowledge of HIPAA and state regulations related to the release of Protected Health Information (preferred).
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong attention to detail.
