Invera Energy provides commercial advisory consulting services to the renewable energy industry, specializing in project development, project management, climate change policy analysis, and asset acquisition/divestiture for utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects.

About the role

Invera Energy is seeking a bright, motivated, and conscientious Onsite Project Controls Specialist to work full-time in Livingston and Kankakee Counties, Illinois. This position will be based in a construction trailer for approximately twenty-one (21) months, with potential transition to remote work or another job site afterward. The role provides technical, project controls, contracting, and administrative support for a utility-scale wind project, offering exposure to wind energy technologies, heavy construction, and the renewable energy market.

This position is initially focused on project controls and administrative efforts but offers opportunities to grow technical skills and experience over the course of the project and potentially into other roles within Invera Energy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform document controls, reporting, and administrative functions in support of construction project staff.
  • Oversee training, setup, administration, and compliance monitoring for document controls software systems.
  • Prepare and modify construction progress documents, including correspondence, reports, memos, presentations, and emails.
  • Respond to routine external correspondence.
  • Prepare, manage, and verify expense reports and assist in tracking the project budget.
  • Perform general office functions, including photocopying and mailing.
  • Provide basic document control training to the site team, EPC Contractor, and other suppliers or contractors.
  • Manage transmittals, requests for information, and submittals under the supervision of the project management team.
  • Assist with tracking construction progress and man-hour reporting as a technical inspector.
  • Assist with obtaining information for Independent Engineer requests and coordinate owner’s responses.
  • Plan and monitor project quality control activities and documentation, maintaining both onsite and electronic filing.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, onsite visits, and travel arrangements.
  • Record, compile, transcribe, and distribute minutes of meetings.
  • Maintain the most current drawing sets.
  • Interact with contractors, vendors, engineers, architects, landowners, and clients to facilitate communication and issue resolution.
  • Support the construction team in resolving day-to-day project issues and escalate concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure all EPC Contractor and equipment supplier logs and inspection reports are complete and filed.
  • Ensure completion of closeout documentation and provide updates as required.
  • Maintain workflow by following Owner procedures outlined in contracts and exhibits.
  • Maintain supplies inventory and coordinate orders and receipts.
  • Coordinate communications between equipment suppliers and other contractors onsite.
  • Maintain office equipment, safety equipment, and supplies.
  • Coordinate maintenance of company vehicles.
  • Support project safety requirements in compliance with company policies, including setting up contracts with local medical providers and drug testing resources.
  • Coordinate deliveries and receivables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management preferred, with a minimum two-year associate degree in construction management or a related technical/engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Direct experience with, or ability to learn, office administrative tasks, protocols, and basic office management.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, project controls procedures and systems, including document configuration management, invoice reviews, and submittals.
  • Competent computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Adobe.
  • Internet skills, including email, group messaging, information-gathering, and social media for community outreach.
  • Familiarity with construction and construction sites is preferred.
  • Experience with quality control processes, procedures, and documentation is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work legally in the United States.
  • Ability to write, speak, read, and understand English.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain and wear PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) if in the field.

Pay

Compensation range: $70,000–85,000, depending on experience. Relocation packages may be available.

Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. The role is initially located at a construction site in Livingston and Kankakee Counties, Illinois, for approximately 21 months. Upon project completion, the position may transition to remote support or relocation to another job site in the United States based on company needs and employee growth.
