Onsite Field Service Engineer
About the role
AIXTRON Inc. is seeking experienced On-site Field Service Engineers to work with customers on qualifying and sustaining state-of-the-art (MO)CVD systems in R&D and high-volume manufacturing.
Job Description
In the role of “on-site field service engineer”, you are responsible for the coordination of technical and administrative support activities at assigned customer location according to the on-site services support contract or as part of key account support. The On-Site Field Service Engineer will be responsible for execution of efforts on resolving technical and operational issues. This would include data collection, reactor data analysis, root cause analysis, generating corrective action and preventive plans, and providing updates to customers daily or agreed upon periodic updates. The On-Site Field Service Engineer would be the acting first line level of contact for the customer and will drive the AIXTRON support required according to the AIXTRON escalation plan. The On-Site Field Service Engineer offers support in the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of the equipment. Finally, the position is responsible for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction while representing the interests of the company.
Your Challenge
Perform the troubleshooting, warranty/service repairs, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, system monitoring, upgrades, and system installation as needed of AIXTRON reactors at customer’s site according to the on-site service contract or as part of key account management.
Act as a company liaison: provide status reports, respond to requests for additional information, address customer concerns, advise customers of schedule changes, updates on required parts availability, and assist in parts identification.
Cook local support from local tech support and be the main contact person for account manager for status updates.
Provide accurate documentation on all system problems and actions taken.
Maintains all reports on customer issues, tools status and quality, and escalates to AIXTRON support.
Train less experienced employees and customer representatives on equipment operations and maintenance.
Physical Demands
Frequent standing; occasional bending and squatting
Might be requested to work off-hours, including weekends, up to 12-hour shifts & lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to participate in clean room contamination exposure prevention requirements, such as wearing appropriate apparatus (SCBA), etc.
Qualifications/Requirements
- At least 3-4 years of experience in R&D and/or production environment within the semiconductor industry.
- Direct experience with compound semiconductor & MOCVD operations, maintenance, & hardware engineering is a plus.
- Adept in mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, hand tools, multimeter, Helium leak checker, and high purity gas supply systems.
- A Technical associate’s degree (AS) in engineering or equivalent experience and knowledge. BS degree is a plus.
- A high level of written and oral communication skills is required.
- The ability to travel domestically and internationally for training & other company events.
