Position Overview
We are seeking an office/field hands-on Engineering /Installation Service Engineer to install inspection systems at customer molding facilities. This role is based in Georgia but requires up to 50% domestic travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer support via phone, electronic media, and/or on-site service visit, including installation of Avalon vision systems, application setup, troubleshooting and training users at different levels.
- Requires strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and face-to-face.
- Must use good problem-solving skills, knowledge and application of electrical engineering and automation principles, including equipment and dexterity in the use of Windows-based computer systems and software.
- In-house tasks include customer service as well as collaboration on constant product development and improvement.
- On-site customer service including installation of Avalon vision systems, troubleshooting and training.
- Knowledge applied to Avalon vision system integration with other equipment including molding machines of all kinds, robots, PLC’s, and other automation systems.
- Generation of proper documentation including service reports, wiring schematics, customized setup/user guides, expenses report.
- Support product development and testing.
- Support Sales and Applications department as needed.
- Support in-house diagnostic/repair of Avalon systems sent in by customers.
Qualifications
- Electrical/Electronic or Automation Engineering
- 5+ years of professional experience
- Ability to read and generate electrical diagrams and schematics
- Proficient writing communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills (electrical, mechanical, or automation systems)
- Comfortable using computers and diagnostic tools
Requirements
- Must be based in Atlanta area or willing to relocate
- Ability to travel up to 50% (including overnight and occasional international travel)
- Valid driver’s license; passport or ability to obtain one
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and work in industrial environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in injection molding, or industrial automation
- Familiarity with machine vision systems or optical inspection
- Experience with PLCs or industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, ProfNet)
- Previous field service or customer-facing technical role
