Purpose
Purpose Online Instructors are industry professionals who develop and teach curriculum that integrates technical knowledge, artistic exploration, creativity, and industry-relevant workflows. The online learning environment includes video content, project-based assignments, discussion boards, quizzes, instructor-led live sessions, and meaningful one-on-one student interaction. Faculty are also expected to provide supportive coaching and mentoring that helps students build confidence, improve their work, and progress successfully through the program.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as instructor for assigned courses or course sections
- Perform all Online Faculty responsibilities with a high degree of quality and professionalism
- Provide expertise in assigned content area and maintain current knowledge in the related field
- Develop and/or revise curriculum according to course design standards
- Create course materials that ensure academic quality and support successful student attainment of learning outcomes
- Work as part of a team and value collaboration
- Possess an educational philosophy compatible with the mission of Los Angeles Film School
Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend functions needed to support The Los Angeles Film School community
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities

Competencies
- Knowledge: Proficient in Autodesk’s Maya, experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and Unreal Engine, expert understanding of 12 Principles of Animation, industry pipelines, 3D techniques and practices, basic understanding of Python Scripting
- Skills: Provide a portfolio with samples, demonstrate teaching and organization skills, demonstrate time management and detail-oriented skills, demonstrate English communication abilities, both verbal and written, demonstrate physical, visual, and auditory capacity to work on a computer and communicate effectively with students via telephone and computer
- Abilities: Demonstrate physical ability to lift and carry equipment up to 10 pounds, demonstrate ability to travel to LAFS online offices in Winter Park, FL when required, demonstrate physical ability to use a computer, a mouse and Wacom, demonstrate ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand, support students with positivity and empathy, de-escalate student issues, handle stressful and/or emotional student circumstances, meet deadlines for various tasks including grading and curriculum development, teach and develop curriculum within excelled time frames, demonstrate sense of isolation if not accustomed to remote work, manage stress related to self and time management
Education & Experience
- REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution
- REQUIRED: 4+ years of verifiable work experience in a related field
