About the Role

The Office of Online Undergraduate Education at Oklahoma Baptist University is seeking a course developer to create undergraduate-level Chemistry courses in an 8-week, online format. Courses to be developed include CHEM 1105-General Chemistry I and/or CHEM 1115-General Chemistry II. Course descriptions are available in the university’s catalog.

Responsibilities

  • Develop course objectives, learning outcomes, and lesson plans aligned with the subject matter and target audience.
  • Create engaging multimedia content, including videos, presentations, quizzes, assignments, readings, and interactive elements.
  • Apply pedagogical principles to design effective learning experiences with logically structured content.
  • Utilize learning management systems (LMS), authoring tools, and multimedia software for online content delivery.
  • Design formative and summative assessments to measure student learning and provide feedback.
  • Ensure course materials meet accessibility standards for all learners, including those with disabilities.
  • Record and edit video/audio content, create graphics, and design visually appealing materials.
  • Review course materials for accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness, improving content based on feedback.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and multimedia specialists.
  • Coordinate timelines, resources, and stakeholders to ensure timely course development and delivery.
  • Design intuitive interfaces and navigation pathways to optimize the online learning experience.
  • Foster community and engagement among online learners through discussion forums, group activities, and collaborative projects.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with eighteen (15) graduate hours in science; a terminal degree (D.B.A. or Ph.D.) in a science-related field is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to develop online courses in science (experience in sport management noted but not required).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in office technology, software (including Microsoft tools), and Learning Management Software (Canvas).
  • Sufficient mobility and physical stamina for online teaching.
  • Must be a member of a local evangelical Christian church.

Preferred Experience

  • Successful course development and teaching experience at the university level.
  • Industry experience in a relevant field.
