The Bancroft School is a unique educational program that empowers students with autism by providing teachable moments throughout their day. In addition to traditional academic subjects, the program focuses on daily living and social skills. Art and music, Adaptive Physical Education, Enrichment activities, and an activity pool for water safety, swim instruction, and recreation are all part of the Bancroft experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance and support to the Teacher in planning and implementing classroom instruction to meet the educational needs of assigned students.
  • Assists the Teacher in assessing students’ abilities and capabilities, aiding in the development and implementation of individual-specific lesson plans and activities that meet learning needs and address IEP goals.
  • Helps establish and maintain a classroom environment conducive to academic and social learning by guiding students toward socially appropriate behavior.
  • Assists in the proper utilization of classroom equipment and materials, making recommendations for new supplies and curriculum materials.
  • Under the direction of the Teacher, observes and tracks student behavior, gathers behavioral data, performs calculations, and creates graphic illustrations to monitor student proficiency and performance, supporting modifications to educational programs.
  • Provides ongoing assistance in managing individual student behavior to maintain a safe and secure classroom environment; reports safety hazards or property damage to the Teacher.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of direct support experience, preferably within an educational or classroom-based setting.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is strongly preferred.

Pay

Hourly rate starting from $23.12–$25.73.
