One Stop Shop Call for Artists
About This Opportunity
The City of Sarasota is seeking professional artists or artist teams to create a site-specific public art installation for the One Stop Shop building at 1575 Second Street in downtown Sarasota. The commission calls for durable, exterior artwork that engages the civic environment and may take the form of murals, sculptures, mosaics, light-based works, or mixed-media installations.
The project budget of up to $100,000 covers artist fees, design development, engineering drawings, fabrication, installation, lighting integration, travel, and related expenses. Applicants must submit a qualifications statement, portfolio samples, professional references, and an initial concept through the CODAworx portal.
The call is open from July 1 to August 31, 2026; a jury will shortlist three finalists (Sept 1–27), followed by a public feedback period (Oct 1–15) and final selection on November 4, 2026.
Eligibility
- Professional artists and artist teams with experience completing comparable scale public art projects
- Preference given to artists on the City of Sarasota 2024–2026 Artist Roster
- Successful applicants will be invited to join the 2026–2028 roster
Responsibilities
- Create a durable, exterior public art installation for the One Stop Shop building
- Collaborate with city staff, engineers, and the Public Art Committee throughout design development and installation
