Oncology Research Nurse I (BMT, Cell and Gene Therapy)

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care, including informed consent discussions and obtaining informed consent.
• Attend and/or perform research visits, and perform/review required protocol assessments.
• Conduct physical assessments within the scope of nursing practice, monitor patient responses, and ensure real-time drug accountability.
• Conduct study-related patient education and perform phone triage for acute clinical issues.
• Document research nursing activities in accordance with CPDM’s Research Nursing Documentation SOP.
• Prepare and verify study drug/product orders and facilitate prescription call-ins and renewals.
• Participate in required meetings, team (disease-specific), departmental, and SIVs.
• Complete self-directed reviews of new protocols and reeducation on existing protocols.
• Create and provide protocol-related inservices for Infusion Staff.
• Apply for Oncology Research Nurse II after completing two years of service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or completed an Accelerated Program in Nursing.
• NYS RN License.
• Four years of related experience or equivalent in education.
• Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training certification, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate, and Conflict of Interest (COI) training certification required upon hire.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word programs and familiarity with Mac and PC platforms.
• Clinical research experience or oncology nursing experience preferred.
