Responsibilities
- Conduct informed consent discussions / obtain informed consent.
- Attend and/or perform research visits.
- Perform/review required protocol assessments.
- Conduct study-related patient education.
- Monitor patient responses intra- and post-study drug administration (as required per protocol).
- Document research nursing documentation as per CPDM’s Research Nursing Documentation SOP.
- Facilitate study drug/product order preparation and verification.
- Assist with pre-certifications and prior authorizations for procedures / prescriptions.
- Prescribe call-ins / renewals.
- Participate in required meetings.
- Train team (disease-specific) and Departmental SIVs.
- Self-directly review new protocols, and reeducate on existing protocols.
- Create and provide protocol-related inservices for Infusion Staff.
- Eligible to apply for Oncology Research Nurse II after two years.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or completed an Accelerated Program in Nursing.
- NYS RN License.
- Four years of related experience or equivalent in education.
- Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training certification, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate, and Conflict of Interest (COI) training certification are required upon hire.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Word programs and familiarity with Mac and PC platforms.
- Clinical research experience or oncology nursing experience preferred.
