Oncology Pharmacist – Full-Time
About the Role
Hope & Healing Cancer Services is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Oncology Pharmacist to provide clinical, operational, and regulatory oversight for our oncology pharmacy, infusion, and clinical research services. The Oncology Pharmacist will be responsible for the safe preparation, verification, dispensing, and management of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, supportive care medications, and investigational products. This role works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, infusion nurses, pharmacy technicians, research staff, and leadership to ensure safe, effective, and compliant patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify oncology treatment orders for accuracy, clinical appropriateness, dosing, and protocol compliance.
- Prepare, compound, verify, and dispense chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive care medications.
- Ensure compliance with USP and USP sterile and hazardous drug compounding requirements.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy, inventory, dispensing, waste, and compliance records.
- Collaborate with the billing and clinical teams to support accurate prescription processing and medication-related workflows.
- Support formulary management, biosimilar utilization, pharmacoeconomic reviews, medication waste reduction, and cost-effective drug use.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, medication safety reviews, audits, and regulatory inspections.
Clinical Research Responsibilities
- Oversee the receipt, storage, preparation, dispensing, accountability, and return of investigational products.
- Evaluate and report temperature excursions or investigational product discrepancies.
- Validate protocol-specific dose calculations and required dose modifications.
- Train pharmacy staff on protocol-specific investigational product handling and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
- Current pharmacist license in good standing.
- Minimum of two years of oncology pharmacy experience in a clinic, hospital, cancer center, or infusion setting.
- Strong knowledge of chemotherapy protocols, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive care medications.
- Experience with sterile and hazardous drug compounding requirements preferred.
- Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy preferred, or willingness to obtain certification within an agreed-upon timeframe.
- Clinical trial, investigational product, formulary management, or pharmacoeconomic experience is highly valued.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and pharmacy management systems.
- Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, communication, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills.
