Responsibilities
- Initiating or receiving communications with patient, provider, and/or team members to facilitate patient care for: refill authorization requests, assisting in patient appointment review, medical records review, insurance authorization review, processing of prescriptions, including investigational medications utilized in clinical trials in compliance with policies and procedures set forth by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and/or medications associated with Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategies (REMS).
- Aiding in compounding, preparation, and distribution of pharmaceutical and investigational medications following USP standards and hospital policy.
- Maintaining records and creating reports required by law.
- Processing documents required by the hospital.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Graduated from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program or have experience qualifying for licensure as outlined in Florida Statutes, Section 465.014
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT)
- 2 years of experience (or 1 year at Moffitt) as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) with any combination of the following: unit dose, pharmacy orders and inventory computer systems, investigational or REMS medication management, pharmacy automation software systems, equipment and electronic health records (EHR) systems, preparation of sterile intravenous medications which may include hazardous and/or investigational medications used for the treatment of cancer with competent understanding of current USP clean room practices and GCP guidelines and/or inventory management of investigational/ controlled/specialty medications.
