Oncology Nurse Practitioner 2 (NURSE PRACT 2)

About the role

To provide independent advanced level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an ongoing basis. This includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols (e.g., chemotherapy) as defined by standardized procedures or independently based on licensure.

Responsibilities

• Manage chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols (e.g., chemotherapy).
• Perform non-invasive or invasive procedures, surgical procedures, including operative first assist per approved standardized procedures as identified by the list available on the Medical Staff Office.
• Act as an expert resource person for health care providers including nurses, residents, and other ancillary staff.
• Provide patient care in a team-based care environment to a diversified patient population.
• Apply knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations.
• Participate in patient and staff education.
• Demonstrate leadership skills.
• Demonstrate accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.

Requirements

• Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
• California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License.
• California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction.
• DEA Certificate within 3 months of hire.
• American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR.
• National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area.
• Graduation with a master’s degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
• One year clinical experience in Oncology as an RN or Nurse Practitioner.
• One year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Judgment skills to effectively meet the needs of patients.
• Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role.
• Demonstrated ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider.

Qualifications

• One year clinical experience in Oncology as an RN or Nurse Practitioner.
• One year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Knowledge of hospital policy and procedures, standardized procedures, and scope of nursing practice.
• Ability to problem solve with interest and ability to teach and educate.
• Ability to learn or efficiently use computer programs as required for the position.
