About the Role

Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and Urogynecology, in collaboration with the Medical Director, this Nurse Practitioner 2 (NP 2) position provides direct care to minimally invasive gynecology surgery and urogynecology patients with multiple, often complicated chronic medical problems. The role operates within the scope of practice defined by UCSF Medical Center policies, Nursing Policies, Medical Staff Policies, and standardized procedures (SPs) as identified by the Office of Medical Affairs and Governance (OMAG).

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care to MIGS/Urogyn patients for new, routine, urgent, and same-day visits.
• Perform triage care via phone and MyChart, supporting the triage team.
• Communicate patient care updates and follow-ups through phone and MyChart.
• Coordinate ongoing care for MIGS/Urogyn patients, manage clinical follow-ups, and support the care team with In Basket messages and prescription refills.
• Independently see patients for both new and follow-up visits, including same-day access for urgent concerns, pre- and post-operative needs, and routine MIGS/Urogyn care.
• Perform delegated functions appropriate to the NP’s scope of practice, including management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical/surgical procedures per approved standardized procedures.
• Work flexibly across all UCSF Health facilities/locations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing as a billable provider.
• Mandatory attendance at the Office of Advanced Practice Providers Orientation Sessions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Four or more years of NP experience in inpatient Obstetrics within the past five years, including managing patients independently.
• Ability to interpret Nonstress tests, ultrasound, and telemetry.

Requirements

Licenses & Certifications

• California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction.
• California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction.
• California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number, including Schedule II furnishing privileges.
• NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role:
  • Adult Inpatient (ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC).
  • Women’s Health (WHNP-BC).
• California Driver License (if required for position).
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Additional required AHA certification: PALS.

Education & Experience

• Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or verified school of nursing with a master’s degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
• At least six (6) months of NP experience (Nurse Practitioner 2 level).

Note: UCSF Medical Center requires credentialing through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of Standardized Procedures typically takes 60-90 days but may vary.
