The posted compensation range of $33.51 - $48.58 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. About the Role
At CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy, our focus is patient-centered care. Our level I trauma center and academic medical center campus is designed to heal the body, mind, and spirit of every person in a more comfortable, less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services, heart and vascular care, emergency services, surgery, maternity, cancer care, and diagnostic imaging.
Responsibilities
- Educate patients about their diseases, treatment, and side effects of treatment and how to manage them.
- Provide clinical resources – where to seek a second opinion, treatment or testing that may not be available locally, and how to access reliable sources of information.
- Assess patients for psychosocial distress and referral to a medical social worker or counselor if more intensive support is needed.
- Answer questions as appropriate and serve as a liaison to the physician for additional questions and concerns.
- Address tangible barriers to care such as finances, housing, transportation, childcare, prescription costs, and much more. They refer patients to the appropriate contact, such as a social worker.
- Ensure any health information provided is accessible: this may include securing documents printed in the patient’s own language or arranging for a certified medical interpretation, either in-person or by phone/video conference.
Requirements
- 3 years clinical nursing experience
- Registered Nurse: NE, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
Preferred
- Bachelor's of Nursing BSN, upon hire
- If working in Oncology, preference for oncology certified nurse (OCN), upon hire
