Responsibilities
- Collects and analyzes comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation to determine the diagnosis or issues.
- Performs primary and secondary patient assessments and documents in the medical record accurately and timely.
- Documents changes and omissions of the identified plan.
- Communicates systematic report to other care providers.
- Captures and coordinates care delivery; utilizes resources to promote the continuum of care.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill in all aspects of IV therapy and hydration.
- Employs strategies to promote health in a safe environment.
- Evaluates and documents progress toward the attainment of outcomes.
- Identifies expected interventions and outcomes for an individualized plan of care and communicates effectively with patient, family and other team members.
- Implements the plan of care in a safe, timely and appropriate manner.
- Manages patient care based on knowledge of cancer, cancer treatment, and side effects of such treatment.
- Uses quality and evidence-based practice to deliver and improve care.
- Works closely with more experienced clinicians for guidance and supervision.
- Infusion/Treatment Depts: demonstrates knowledge and skills in chemotherapy/biotherapy and blood products.
- Radiation Oncology Depts: demonstrates knowledge of radiation therapies and procedures, including side effect and symptom management.
- Demonstrates ability to triage patients and coordinate with provider to ensure care needs are met.
Requirements
- High School Graduate
- Associate Degree Nursing
- Must complete BSN within 5 years of hire
- Bachelor Degree Nursing
- 1 or more years med surg/acute care
- 1 or more years oncology experience
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing
- Current active multistate state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in state in which you live.
- Staff hired prior to 2/1/2024 are required to obtain a multistate state RN license from the state in which they live at the time of their next RN license renewal by 4/30/2026.
- Chemo Certification - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Certification preferred for Infusion/Treatment departments
