Oncology Data Specialist, CoC Casefinding & Tumor Conference Coordinator

Job Description

This position is required for routine regional registry operations of the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. This pre-ODS-C position is for a candidate who has training in healthcare, medical terminology, and health information coding, which are prerequisites to be trained to become a certified oncology data specialist.

Responsibilities

• Reviews cancer registry software messages and initiates reportable cancer cases
• Performs case abstracting under supervision of a certified oncology data specialist
• Captures and abstracts patient data accurately and timely
• Coordinates tumor conference meetings

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate's degree in an allied health field or post-secondary coursework in human anatomy & physiology highly preferred
• Active ODS-C (Oncology Data Specialist-C) Certification through the NCRA highly preferred
• 1-3 years’ experience in either regional tumor registry, hospital tumor registry, or applicable healthcare environment
